Spirit Distillation

Used as a traditional alembic still, the column still is ideal for producing eau-de-vie and other distilled spirits. The column design encourages a smooth flow of vapours while maintaining the character and flavour that traditional copper distillation is known for.

Botanical Infusions

One of the unique features of this still is the removable copper sieve plate located within the column. By placing herbs, spices, fruits, berries or botanicals onto the sieve and running an already distilled spirit through the still, the vapours extract flavour and aroma as they pass through.

Experiment with citrus peel, native botanicals, spices, herbs or even oak chips to create unique flavour profiles and add character to your spirits.

Steam Distillation

The column still can also be used for steam distillation. In this process, plant material is held above the water on the copper sieve plate and distilled using steam rather than direct contact with water.

This method is ideal for producing hydrosols, floral waters and selected essential oils from aromatic plants while helping preserve delicate aromatic compounds.

Electrical Information

The included electric hotplate is supplied with voltage selection capability. By default, units are configured to 220V. Please check and adjust the voltage selector located on the underside of the hotplate to suit your local power supply before use.
