The 20L Copper Column Still is designed for those wanting to explore the traditional art of steam distillation. Ideal for producing essential oils, hydrosols and floral waters, this versatile still allows aromatic plant material to be distilled using steam rather than direct contact with water.

Unlike a traditional hydrodistillation still, the botanical material is placed on a copper sieve tray within the column above the water. As steam rises through the plant material, it gently extracts aromatic compounds before passing into the condenser where it is collected as hydrosol and, where applicable, essential oil.

This process is particularly well suited to flowers, herbs and delicate botanicals where preserving aromatic quality is important.
