About Alembic Alchemy
At Alembic Alchemy, we believe that traditional skills deserve to be preserved, practised and passed on.
Our copper stills are handcrafted in Portugal by a family business whose roots trace back to 1837. For almost two centuries, generations of skilled coppersmiths have refined their craft, producing some of the finest traditional alembics, alquitars and distillation equipment available today.
In a world increasingly dominated by mass-produced alternatives, we have chosen to work exclusively with authentic Portuguese-made stills. We do not sell cheap imported copies. Every still in our range is handcrafted using traditional techniques, tested materials and generations of knowledge that continue to be passed from one family to the next.
Alembic Alchemy was founded by Naomi Ingleton, a horticulturist, herbal educator and food producer with a lifelong passion for traditional crafts, food, farming and medicinal plants.
For many years Naomi has used copper stills in her own apothecary work, producing hydrosols, essential oils and botanical extracts. With a background spanning horticulture, food production, hospitality and the wine industry, she understands both the practical and creative possibilities that distillation offers.
Today, Naomi operates FarmacyCo in North East Victoria, where she grows medicinal and culinary plants, teaches workshops and shares knowledge on growing, harvesting and using plants for food and medicine.
Alembic Alchemy was created to provide access to authentic, high-quality copper distillation equipment for herbalists, gardeners, spirit makers, educators and curious makers who want to explore the art of distillation for themselves.
Whether you’re interested in crafting botanical spirits, producing hydrosols, distilling essential oils or simply learning a traditional skill, we hope these beautiful stills inspire the same sense of curiosity and creativity that first drew us to them.
Because some skills are worth keeping alive.
